my son to have the chance to go to special ed summer school.

My son has severe autism. He does not qualify for the school district's free summer programs, so he can only attend a paid program. Of course, the program he qualifies for is the most expensive one, at $295, and it is also the first one to fill. His program is for the most severe special needs kids in the district (a district of >50,000 students), and there are only 20 spaces available. He lacks the academic skills to attend any of the bigger programs, and requires one on one supervision at all times.

I want to turn his application in ASAP, but I have to pay at the time I turn in the application, and I don't have the cash to pay it sitting around. Because they have been burned before, the district does not offer payment plans.

He's been kicked out of day cares, and a private sitter does not provide him with the peer interaction he so desperately needs in order to keep his progress. He loves being around other kids, and he doesn't really have friends to play with outside of school. He's nearly 8 years old and has never been invited to a play date or had another kid call up and ask if he can play. He's just too difficult to communicate with, even though he would adore hanging out with other kids.

He makes a ton of progress during the school year. I couldn't be happier with his teachers--they work miracles with him. I just don't want him to lose any of that progress over the summer.

He's also extremely difficult to care for on a full-time basis, so having him in a safe place for a few hours a day would allow me to run errands, get groceries, clean his room, and things like that without worrying about his safety or care and without having him running through the store and things like that. Since I am a single mom, I have no one to care for him during the summer. I love providing him with experience out in the real world, but sometimes I just want to buy some milk without it taking an hour.

A Massage, Manicure, and Pedicure--in short, a spa day!

I need a spa day! I broke my ankle in January and am finally out of my cast. My poor feet need some pampering, and my muscles have been overworked lugging around that heavy cast as well. Summer is coming, and I want to have nice tootsies for sandal season. I checked the price at a local salon, and a package deal with a massage, manicure, and pedicure is $323!

Yikes! The cost of beauty is high! I'm a single mom and want to feel beautiful. :-) And my adorable child is extremely challenging, and runs me absolutely into the ground. I could use a bit of relaxation after chasing him around for days on end!

Yes, it is a totally selfish wish, which is why I put it in the naughty category!

A Date! I need a date!

Here's the thing. I'm a single mom. I've been divorced since May of 2000. I have a full-time job working in an elementary school, and I raise a child with severe autism. He takes up a TON of my time and attention, so I have not really pursued dating at all. I have not had a date since my divorce, and I really would very much like to get out there and meet people!

I am not a club girl. I don't even know where the singles bars are, much less know anyone to hang out with. All my friends are married, and work is not a good place for me to meet single men.

I figure that leaves the internet. I've looked at free sites. Have you seen the personals on Craigslist? SCARY. I don't want random faceless hookups--I'm looking for someone with relationship potential.

I'm getting older. Well, I'm not old, by any means, but I'm not a young single anymore. I want to try something like match.com or eharmony.com. Match.com is $101 for a 6 month membership, with a "Make Love Happen Guarantee", whatever that means. I'd like to take the plunge, so to speak, and dive right into the online dating world. I don't need that extra stuff from Dr. Phil, just the basic membership would be fine!

I'm making some positive changes in my life lately. I'm eating better, I've joined a gym and am working on improving my fitness and losing weight, and I feel really good about my future. I think pursuing a dating relationship is the next logical step!

And since match.com is going to guarantee to make love happen, what have I got to lose? I promise I'll invite everyone who votes 5 stars to the wedding!

Here's the thing.

I'm re-submitting this wish because I want to prove a point. The first time I wished this, I was told I was a bad mom and a terrible person for wanting to find happiness. I think most of society disagrees with that outlook.

Also? Always a bridesmaid, never a bride! I've had the second place wish twice now!
