Enough money to get my van registered
For the past three months, I have been trying to get my van registered at the DMV. First, I had to have all the proper documentation since it is a leased vehicle from out of state. I finally got all that together only to find out I have to pay approximately $1500 in sales/use tax when I go to register. It is next to impossible to come up with that kind of money, and continue to pay necessary bills, when you've been faced with a financial hardship. My husband was forced out of the Navy due to high year tenure, did not receive the severance pay he was told he'd get, was unable to collect unemployment while in between jobs, and I had to have two surgeries last year. All of that, plus the fact that we had to move drained the little savings we had. |

A new bed frame and headboard
We are moving into a bigger place in about 2 weeks. A friend of my husband is giving us a practically brand new mattress and box spring(his grandma had just bought a week or so before she ended up in the hospital and passed away) and I would like something to put it on. Right now, in the house we're in, our "guest" bed is a futon in the kitchen. There isn't anything wrong with the futon, but why pass up the free queen size mattress, right? I have found a couple of headboards that I like that are around $150-200. I don't want anything extravagant, just something attractive and comfy for my overnight guests to sleep on. |

School books-Cultural Diversity and Religions of the World
I am taking online classes right now for education. All of my books are available online, however, I have a hard time actually reading like I should online. Two classes I have coming up are Cultural Diversity and Religions of the World. I think that these two classes are worth actually purchasing the books: 1, to help me to better read, understand, and review the material, and 2 I would like to keep them around for future use for my children and husband. I also think that they would be useful once I am finally in a classroom; I am, afterall, planning to teach Social Studies. |

my best friend to come visit me
My best friend, Michelle, and I haven't seen each other since I moved from VA almost two years ago. She has been going through a really tough time lately and needs a break. Neither one of us would like anything more than for her to come down here to Louisiana for a visit. The $500 would cover airfare, food, and entertainment expenses while she's here. We both need this visit as we are two peas in a pod. We used to have the best times together shopping, "doing" lunch, playdates with the kids, or just sitting at home hanging out. We can always count on each other during a time of crisis, and right now is her time of need. She is a member of this site too, Shell0918. Please vote and help Michelle to get down here so that we can go out zydeco dancing, eat some crawfish, and just hang out together again. |
