A New Computer for My 7 Year Old Son, Who Lives With Autism

A New Computer for My 7 Year Old Son, Who Lives With Autism

My son and I currently have a very old computer with little RAM. He mastered the basics of a computer at the age of 3. He's an avid "gamer" on his Children's game websites, and on our computer, they freeze or lock up due to lack of memory. If you have a child with Autism, you know the kind of frustration this can create. He loves using the Internet to learn about Astronomy, Math, Dinosaurs, as well as learning more about what's he's learning about at school.

As well, I use the computer to make him his PECS routines (Picture Exchange Communication System). Having our own computer is such a valuable tool for this, as we can make our own Visual Cue Cards, instead of buying super expensive ones.

I'm a single parent, with Lupus...so between my medication costs, and that of my son's (He's also Asthmatic)...money is always tight. I'd love to get him a new computer to fulfill his needs with, but on a modest income...it just isn't feasible right now.

Thank you so much for reading, voting, and considering our wish :)

A Four Legged Companion for my son who lives with Autism

Since my hospitalization in February for a near fatal reaction to Anti-convulsants, my son's anxiety level has increased 5-fold. Some of his Autism traits have also relapsed. He's always wanted a dog (A Shih tzu) as they don't shed as much dander as other breeds. Due to his allergies, we've put it off.
However, with recent events; I'd love to get him a companion to help him learn to self-regulate...a "fur friend" to comfort him when he's anxious. He's passed into Grade 3 with flying colors, and I can't think of any other perfect way to help him celebrate his passing. He so longs for a dog to call his own.

Sensory equipment -Therapy for the senses!

Sensory equipment -Therapy for the senses!

I am currently trying to create a "sensory room" for my 8 year old son who has Sensory Integrative Disorder. Disorder. I have been given a list of items to purchase for it from our therapist today, but have fallen abit short. (Most of the items have to be purchased from the US, and we live in Canada).

My son has a specific form of Sensory Integrative Disorder called "Tactile Defensiveness". He also has some Oral sensory issues as well. He has supports in school such as a sit-fit cushion and a weighted vest to help him self-regulate and help him concentrate; but currently at home - we only have sensory balls in a shoe box.

If you'd like more information on Sensory Integrative Disorder, or are just curious as to what it is all about...feel free to PM me:) or you can visit www.sensory-processing-disorder.com (It's my favorite resource.)

Thanks for reading and considering our wish and have a great week!

Just a Small Piece of Sanity to Get Me Through

Just a Small Piece of Sanity to Get Me Through

With the kind of week I've had, all I want is a little piece of sanity to help me hold on. I feel like I am hanging by a thread emotionally, and this isn't good for my health or that of my son.

My Liver enzymes are once again on the rise, and no one can tell me what is causing this. So my stress level is a tad high right now. As of today (Oct.1st) my son has been diagnosed with ADHD in addition to his Autism and SPD. *sigh* I do truly believe I'm going to snap. LOL

Please say a little prayer for us. Light a candle, whichever you like. I'm doing both daily myself.

Thank you for taking the time to read this wish.
I really appreciate it.

*hugs*
