This Christmas my children will be with their father for Christmas for the first time since my marriage ended. I think it will be good for them, but I will be alone. For Christmas this year I want to be able to give my best friend a hug. I miss him. He lives 2751.14 miles away (according to mapquest) in Los Angeles, California. I have never been to California (or anywhere that far south) and so it would be a real adventure to see a new place, that is completely different from anywhere I have been yet, in addition to riding some huge roller coasters, going to a museum, riding a horse, and possibly seeing the rocky horror picture show. On this trip, I might get a chance to meet several other online friends including Rebelwithkidz and Blessed who are members here, as well as my friend's family, who I have not yet met. The photo is me during a hike we took on my last trip (which was to Portland, OR) These chances to escape, to spend time with friends, and to relax and just be me instead of being "mom" are really what keep me going when things get tough. We sometimes have to take him to childrens hospital up to 5-6 times a month. its a little over an hour away. With gas as high as it is it is costing us an arm and a leg. We really could use a hand to get through the appts in Nov. and Dec. so we can get back on track and be able to make it again. Upcoming appointments that we have at childrens for son are, with his gentetics doc, nuerologist, pulmologist, his ENT, and on Dec 5th he is having a brochioscopy(sp) and biopsy done as well. Then at the end of the month we have another round of appointments with all of the docs lsited above. He also has PT & OT a few times weekly at a hospital clinic that is 25 mins away. For myself I have appts. with a few diff. docs as well. It can get overwhelming as all get out. I just need a break. The hundred dollars would be an immense blessing . Ely is non-verbal and has very little communications skills. His developmental pediatrician has recommend a minimum of 10 hours of ABA therapy a week. In Texas ABA Therapy is not covered by medicaid or insurance. The therapist charge $100.00 an hour. We have been in contact with an organization here that works with college students and provides therapy at a reduced rate. Ely was accepted into the program at Woodall Kids. His ABA Therapy begins on Wednesday the 29th. In the mean time we were asked to purchase Language Builder Picture Cards to be used as part of his therapy. Originally the only place I could find the cards they requested were $159.99. I have now found them a little cheaper at another website for $134.99 we will use the wish money towards that purchase. I have had a couple people email me with a link to Ebay for a disk to go and get your own cards printed and laminated. I spoke to the therapist about this and they only use the specific cards in which they requested in there program. I currently use Open Office, however this is not an acceptable program. Not only that, but NONE of the Windows Vista OS have this included. It has to be purchased seperately. Luckily since I work for AT&T, I can get an INCREDIBLE discount on the product directly from Microsoft. Normal pricing for Office Home and Student is 99.99-199.99 (depending on where you get it). I can get it for 76.70. With the shipping and tax, the total comes up to around 87.00. Since I am going for Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Software Applications, this program is a must and on the list of requirements. The program I am enrolling in is called BPCC FAST TRACK, for students who attended and never got to finish school for one reason or another. It is extremely fast paced with 4, 4 week sessions in each semester. That means one class is 4 weeks long then you take the final and move to another class. I am very excited!
